One of the most famous meals in Punjab, Punjabi chole bhature, is prepared to use chickpeas, onions, green chilies, and spices, from which the name is derived. This dish is one of the famous dishes that are served on special occasions. The word “bhature” means “dining in the mouth”. In fact, this dish is so popular it is one of the favorite street foods of Punjab.

Many people like to prepare their own Punjabi chole bhature recipe.
They use fresh vegetables, spices, and herbs that are available in the market. Some ingredients that are very commonly used in the Punjabi recipe are onions, tomatoes, cumin, coriander, turmeric, salt, and pepper.
These ingredients make the preparation of this delicious dish a very easy process.
There are two types of Punjabi recipes that use this recipe. The first type includes the use of potatoes and the other involves preparing fried flatbread. The difference between the two types of recipes is that the fried flatbreads are deep fried and the potatoes are cooked in a separate pan.
The combination of these two makes the Punjabi recipe a very healthy dish because of the rich amount of protein, fat, fiber, and carbohydrates.
Firstly, start off with a small bowl that contains half a cup of water. Add 1 tablespoon of salt and mix well the dry chickpeas and chana dal to form a dough. When the dough gets dry, add a little bit of water or oil and begin to knead it into a ball.
Knead until the ingredients make a firm structure, then place the chana dal and puffed rice in a large bowl and cover the ingredients with the dough.
After creating the dough, cut the chana dal into two pieces. Combine the chopped pieces with the mashed potato and chole at the top of the flatbreads. Cover the mixture with more water or oil and set aside for one hour.
The combination of the potato and chole will make the filling soft enough to roll out.
Once the whole spices are ready, cut the cooked chickpea and place it in the center of the dough. Cover it with more water or oil and continue to roll it. Cut the rolled dough into fourths and spread it evenly on a flatbread.
Turn it over so that it is flat and cut the top of it so it is short. This short side is the part that you fry.
Fry the flatbreads in hot oil until they are golden brown.
